So we can learn to pick ourselves up. (Thomas Wayne to a young Bruce Wayne)
For those who don’t know, dad (James) took quite a spill down the stairs today. I don’t have all the exact details, except that he is in the hospital with a bad hand injury and had just returned from surgery at about 5:20 pm PST. I had spoken with Sue who was waiting for his return from surgery. As I understand it, he tore ligaments in his right hand which in turn allowed many of the small bones to move and shift. Nothing is broke, but dislocated to the extent that surgery was necessary. He has hardware in his hand and some screws sticking out. They will eventually come out and he will need physical therapy.
That is about all I can report on. Certainly he is in our thoughts and prayers as we hope for a speedy recovery. We all know how much Jim “loves” hospitals. Of course, the most important thing is that he be able to play the banjo again. We all remember how before the accident he could make it sing like concourses of southern angels along the Mississippi. If you never had the pleasure of listening to Jim’s “fire on the banjo” (as we called it) then you have truly missed out ![]()
So, Dad, we are thinking of you and hope that you do get well soon. There is a particular furry little buddy that I know is missing you, so hurry up and get home. For everyone else, we are planning on building one of those handrail chair elevator thingys, so send your donations to my PayPal account: themillirons@comcast.net
I don’t want to give his email out, becuase I don’t think he is checking it, but you can leave comments here for him and I will make sure he gets them.

I’m so sorry to hear that!! I can’t believe ha had to have surgery, that must have been one nasty fall. I too will say a prayer for him and hope that he has a speedy recovery!!
I plan on making a donation…..as soon as this whole “lottery” thing I got goin’ pans out!
Oh, Junior, as soon as Pappy has two strong hands he’s gonna kill you dead. The last thing he wants is for this to be out on the blog. You just done messed up your inheritance. There’s not gonna be no “fire on the banjo”–there’s gonna be fire on your butt when he reads this blog. Looks like Sissy’s gonna get it all!
Mitch who?
But I don’t want the cat…..
Just an update—James had a bright green cast on for 2 weeks then chose a bright orange one for the next 2 weeks. On Monday, 13th, he had the cast and the three pins removed and a hard removal splint put on. Yeah, he can now take a shower but still needs help dressing. I can tie a pretty good tie! However, I did say I’m ready for a more complicated knot—I said know not noose—even though I’ve been ready for a noose on more than one ocassion—for which one of us, I will not tell.
Oh, yes, in response to Sissy and the cat. I want her to know that on Martha, she showed how to take care of a cat. I must buy a comb (brushes are useless on longer hair cats) and comb 2-socks each day. Also, I learned that I need to take a warm wash cloth daily and wipe over 2-socks face. The finishing touch is a little bit of baby oil on a Q-tip and then on the nose. Nails need to be trimmed ever so slightly but I don’t have nail clippers! So, Sissy, you will probably want this cat if Kelli doesn’t jump in first!!!
